Weight loss dropouts
Researchers from the University of Alberta are looking into what makes people drop out of, or stick with, a weight loss clinic.
Over a 6-year period, 43% of participants at a clinic in Alberta dropped out of a weight loss program.
However, they found the attrition rate was much lower among those who had also gone through weight-loss surgery.
Doctors suspect patients willing to undergo surgery may be more committed to completing the program, but younger patients and women were more likely to drop out early.
