Vitamin D and weight gain in women

Older women who don’t get enough vitamin D may be susceptible to weight gain.

Researchers at Kaiser Permanente in Oregon tracked more than 4,600 women over age 65 for five years.

Those with low levels of vitamin D in their blood gained about two pounds more than those with adequate levels.

This study does not prove low levels of the vitamin cause weight gain.

And researchers say there’s not enough evidence to recommend taking supplements to avoid extra pounds.
