Fewer people are dying of cancer south of the border.

A report from the American Cancer Society shows that between 2004 and 2008 cancer death rates decreased about 1.7%.

Overall cancer incidence rates dropped 0.6% a year in men and were stable in women.

The steepest declines were in fatal cases of lung and breast cancer.

But some forms of cancers are increasing including throat and mouth cancers linked to human papilloma viruses.
