Teens experiment with drugs in the summer

This may seem obvious to most parents, but a new study says summer time is prime time for teens to experiment with drugs and alcohol.

The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration finds June and July are the top months of the year for teenagers to try alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana for the first time.

It speculates that’s because teens have more unsupervised free time.

The new information is based on surveys of more than 230,000 teenagers between 2002 and 2012.
