HAPPENING NOW:

Sunscreen and melanoma

A new study finds regular sunscreen use really can prevent skin cancer.

Researchers in Australia found regular sunscreen use during a five-year treatment period reduced the incidence of melanoma during a decade long follow-up.

Of the roughly half of the participants using sunscreen regularly, only 11 new melanomas were identified.

The result in the group who used sunscreen at their own discretion was double that.
