Special bike helps brain injury patients

Helping acquired brain injury patients reach their potential is the goal of Hamilton Health Sciences’ rehabilitation program.

They’re continually seeking out new techniques and equipment to aid the difficult journey facing each patient. Maria Hayes gives us a look at the newest device, which comes in the form of a bicycle.

For the patient, the motomed bike improves cardiovascular fitness, motor function and range of movement. But more importantly says Denise Johnson, it helps them buy into the rehab program. Once they’re motivated they can continue to make tangible improvements to their quality of life.
