Some memory loss may be reversible

Post-surgery memory loss may be reversible according to a new study out of Toronto.

Researchers at Sunnybrook and the University of Toronto found that memory loss caused by inflammation of the brain after surgery could be reversed by targeting “memory blocking” receptors.

These are found in the hippocampus, the part of the brain that regulates learning and memory.

Researchers say these findings could help lead to a possible treatment for inflammation that doesn’t include drugs like steroids, which often lead to poor wound healing.
