Smoking and weight gain

Gaining weight after you quit smoking could affect some of the health benefits you experience from kicking the habit.
Researchers at Indiana University looked at data from more than 150,000 older women and found that quitting smoking drastically reduced their risk for heart disease. However, gaining weight after quitting smoking weakened that health benefit, especially if the woman also had diabetes, or had gained more than 11 pounds.
