HAPPENING NOW:

Smoking and bladder cancer

Cases of bladder cancer linked to smoking are much higher than previously thought.

72-hundred cases of bladder cancer are expected to be diagnosed in Canada this year, and a new study found that former smokers are two times more likely to develop the disease than people who never smoked at all.

Current smokers are about four times more likely.

Researchers also found the risk is especially high among women who regularly smoke.
