HAPPENING NOW:

Slight slip in gas prices forecast

After a big drop in the price of oil as part of yesterday’s big sell-off on North American stock markets, experts expected a sharp drop in gas prices. And they will be moving lower – but not as much as hoped.

Prices in Hamilton will drop about 1.7 cents per litre overnight for an average price of 127.2 for Saturday. In Toronto, prices are a little higher, but still falling slightly. You’ll see an average of 127.5 cents tomorrow. If you can wait to fill up, you’ll save a few bucks.

West Texas Intermediate futures closed Thursday at $95.40 per barrel.

Editor’s note: an earlier version of this story cited an incorrect closing figure for crude oil futures. This has been corrected.
