St. Catharines newlyweds, Phil and Amberley Secord are looking for a miracle. Phil who is just 31 years old has been battling a rare form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia for nearly a year and the options for treatment are running out.

Last month we were at Juravinski hospital when Phil married Amberley with their 9 month old daughter by their side. 6 days later they were told the experimental drug he was on wasn’t working and that Phil’s time was running out. The family is asking for help to keep Phil alive, they need a million dollars for a treatment in the United States.

Amberley says there are two options. They’ve been approved for a promising clinical trial in New York at the Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital. “They want a million dollar deposit. A deposit of a million dollars before they even see him.”

The other option is to pay for another treatment in Canada, the cost is $600 000 for the experimental drugs but the result is unpredictable. At this point they have only raised $63 000, less than 10% of what they need.
