Sedentary blood clots

Women who sit for long periods of time increase their risk of developing blood clots in their lungs.

A study of almost 70,000 nurses found those who were sedentary for more than 41 hours a week were two to three times more likely to get a pulmonary embolism than those who only sat for fewer than 10 hours a week.

Researchers say the overall risk is still small, but the findings show a strong link between physical inactivity and blood clots.
