On a warm and sun-filled day, it’s unfair to talk about skin cancer.

But the numbers are on the rise, and people are more conscious about changing lesions on their skin. An estimated 30 percent of visits to the dermatologist are for concerns about moles and markings. Maria Hayes tells us about a new device could make the detection a little easier.

The aura scan isn’t covered by OHIP, so patients pay out of pocket about $120 per scan. The Institute of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in Oakville is the only clinic in Canada to have the device. To learn more, visit the ICLS website.
