Reversing memory loss
Scientists may have found a drug that could reverse memory loss from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Research on mice shows a drug prescribed for epilepsy, called levetiracetam, suppresses abnormal brain activity and restores memory function.
The abnormal activity in their brains dropped by 50% in less than a day.
After two weeks of treatment, the neurons’ ability to communicate with each other improved, and several important proteins for healthy brain function returned to normal.
