Premier Kathleen Wynne and Ontario Finance Minister Charles Souza spoke with media at Queen’s Park Tuesday regarding the next step in retirement security for Ontarians.

Earlier this month, Wynne called on the federal government to enhance the Canada Pension Plan. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty rejected the idea saying it would damage Canada’s economy. Wynne says a supplementary program is needed because middle-class Ontarians don’t save enough for retirement: “This is about the children and the grand children and it really is about people have the opportunity to save for their retirement and giving them a context to do that.”

Last week, Wynne recruited former Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin to help with the ‘made-in-Ontario’ pension plan.
