HAPPENING NOW:

Radiation after lumpectomy

A study from Houston suggests many older, early stage breast cancer patients may benefit from radiation after a lumpectomy.

Researchers say the treatment appears to cut the need for a future mastectomy.

The study is based on more than 74-hundred patients.

One group of patients did not benefit; those were women in their mid-to late-70’s who didn’t have high grade tumors.
