HAPPENING NOW:

Psoriasis and heat

This extreme heat is problematic for many people, especially those suffering from psoriasis.

The chronic inflammatory skin condition often presents as red patches, or a large collection of tiny pimples, covered with white scales. It can appear anywhere on the body, including the face and scalp. The already dry skin can crack and bleed, causing a burning sensation and painful itch. It’s particularly irritated when the body begins to sweat. But beyond the physical challenges of psoriasis, patients experience emotional turmoil. 18-year old Levi Rose of Hagersville developed the condition at 15. Self-conscious about the appearance, the normally outgoing athlete says he lived in a shell for 4-months, waiting for a clinical trial.
