Price lowered for Playbook as RIM stock rises
Two of Canada’s biggest electronics retailers have put RIM’s Playbook on sale.
Best Buy and Future Shop have cut the price of all three versions of Research in Motion’s Playbook by $100.
RIM’s playbook has struggled against the popularity of Apple’s iPad.
Research in Motion shipped about 200,000 Playbooks in its most recent quarter.
That’s about half of what analysts had been expecting.
This comes amid unconfirmed reports that billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn is considering taking a stake in the embattled BlackBerry maker.
The share price reached as high as $23.84 before closing at $23.15, a gain of $.81 cents or 3.63% on the day.
