HAPPENING NOW:
Prenatal maternal stress
Research shows partner support after a serious prenatal diagnosis can reduce stress and anxiety in pregnant women.
The study assessed women carrying a fetus with congenital heart disease.
Nearly a quarter of the women had depression and 39% had traumatic stress.
The more severe symptoms were associated with low income, denial of the diagnosis and poor partner support.
Researchers say women who felt the most positive about their partner were better able to cope.
