HAPPENING NOW:

Potential nose job disorder

A third of patients who get a nose job may have a condition known as body dysmorphic disorder or BDD.

It’s a mental condition in which patients are excessively concerned about their appearance and any minor defects.

Researchers in Belgium say 33% of patients who wanted rhinoplasty had moderate to severe symptoms of BDD.

Cases went up if patients wanted a nose job solely to improve their appearance, and went down significantly among patients who needed the procedure for medical reasons.
