Ozone and the heart
Exposure to ground level ozone from cars and power plants can increase the risk for heart problems.
Researchers exposed 23 healthy, young volunteers to ozone gas during two-hour sessions of both clean air and ozone-polluted air at levels about twice what you’d find in China or Mexico.
The volunteers developed changes linked to heart problems, like a change in heart rate, when exposed to ozone.
