Overuse of antibiotics
A new study shows more needs to be done to stop the overuse of antibiotics, and to stop the increase of drug resistance super bugs.
Researchers say nearly 60% of antibiotic prescriptions written between 2007 and 2008 were for illnesses not helped by the drugs.
That number is actually down 25% from 1993.
While the study showed fewer doctors are prescribing antibiotics for a sore throat or a cold, they’re still writing them for ear and sinus infections.
