Researchers analyzing the genetic makeup of ovarian cancer tumours have found a surprisingly common gene mutation.

The finding suggests the gene plays a key role in driving the cancer, and could help lead to earlier diagnosis and better treatment.

Right now, ovarian cancer isn’t usually spotted until an advanced stage.

A regular pelvic exam is considered the best way to detect it early.
