The Ontario government is investing $2.5 million dollars in enhanced breastfeeding supports to help newborn babies get a healthy start in life.

The government hopes to help mothers breastfeed through a number of inititiatives, including a 24-hour phone support line with breastfeeding experts. They also plan to offer greater support for mothers in areas that have lower rates of breastfeeding.

The investment is part of Ontario’s Action Plan for Health Care. Currently in Ontario, 90% of mothers want to breastfeed, but only 60% do.
