Older adults not getting access to medication
Older adults — a group who could benefit from heart disease drugs the most — don’t appear to be getting them as often as their younger peers.
A study finds people over age 75 are less likely to be prescribed cholesterol and blood pressure medication.
For example, statin medication use went up until age 75, but started to decline shortly after.
Experts say doctors should not dismiss preventive medications when considering ways to lower the risk for heart disease in older adults.
