Niagara latest to issue extreme cold alert

Officials have issued an extreme cold weather alert for the Niagara region.

Temperatures are expected to drop below minus 15 degrees. They are advising residents to cover exposed skin and wear multiple layers.

Officials are also warning people to be cautious when shovelling snow, especially those with heart and respiratory problems.

Alerts are already in effect in several other communities, including the city of Hamilton and Halton Region.
