New treatment for pinkeye

There could be a new, more effective treatment for pinkeye.

Swedish researchers have developed an experimental eye drop that successfully cured the condition in animal studies, with only a few side effects.

It works by preventing the virus from attaching to the eye in the first place, so it can easily be washed away in tears.

Pinkeye is highly contagious and causes millions of lost school and work days each year.
