Niagara health officials are now confirming a case of measles in Niagara Falls. It’s the first case there this year. It follows a small outbreak in Toronto, and a larger one that originated at Disneyland in the U.S.
While it’s unclear if there’s a connection between the outbreaks, Niagara Public Health officials do want to speak with people who were at several places in Niagara Falls locations last week. – – People who were at Greater Niagara General Hospital from 3pm on Sunday February 1st, to noon Monday February 3rd may have been directly exposed to measles.
There is also concern for people who were at the Walmart on Oakwood Drive on Tuesday January 27th and Thursday January 29th – and anyone who was at the MacBain Community Centre on Monday January 26th and Tuesday January 27th. There is concern that people in those locations may have had indirect exposure.
Anyone who is concerned they may have been exposed are asked to call Public Health at 905-688-8248 ext 7330.
