Health Minster Deb Matthews is applauding a move by an Ontario court that allows the provincial government to go ahead with its plans to overhaul physiotherapy for seniors.
Matthews says, “with today’s ruling, Ontario will be able to move forward with our plan to improve physiotherapy services for 200,000 more seniors. My ministry is working with all our partners to ensure a smooth transition for patients.”
The court rejected an application for judicial review brought forward by 43 for-profit physio clinics. The ruling means those clinics will no longer be allowed to bill OHIP. Money will instead be divided out among 200 community physiotherapy clinics across Ontario.
