Major donation for Sick Kids

Hospital for Sick Children receives $40M from homebuilder.
It’s believed to be the biggest single private gift to a children’s hospital in Canada.
Mattamy Homes, founded by Peter Gilgan of Oakville, has built thousands of homes across North America since 1978.
The hospital says the money will go toward the construction and operating costs of the SickKids Centre for Research and Learning.
Currently under construction in downtown Toronto, the $400-million facility is slated to open in August 2013.
The hospital says the lab and learning facility will bring together 2,000 scientists, trainees and research staff under one roof.
