Low propensity cigarettes
All cigarettes sold in the European Union will soon have to specially made to reduce the risk of fires.
The “low-ignition-propensity” cigarettes will have to be designed to go out when they’re not actively being smoked.
The European Commission drew up a safety measure designed to alter the type of paper used in cigarettes to reduce the risk of fires.
Low-ignition-propensity cigarettes are already on sale in Canada, the U.S. and Portugal.
As of November 17th, all cigarettes sold in the E.U. will have to comply with the new regulations.
