Christmas has come a little early to Hamilton Health Sciences.
Late Thursday afternoon, the Juravinski Cancer Centre was presented with a cheque for five million dollars from Ron and Nancy Clark of Caledonia. The Clark family operates a wide range of poultry and agriculture businesses. And they have a personal connection to the cancer centre.
Ron Clark: “It’s the right thing to do. And I hope others will follow our example. The government is only going to do so much and it’s up to the private individuals to pick up the slack. That’s what we’re trying to do in our own small way.”
And earlier this week, Hamilton Health Sciences received another $6 million in donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital, including $1 million from Arcelor Mittal.
