Studies have shown time and time again — kids seem to do better in school when they exercise.

Researchers in the Netherlands reviewed 14 studies and found strong, consistent evidence linking physical activity and academic performance.

The question now is how does it work?

Experts believe exercise may increase blood and oxygen flow to the brain and increase levels of hormones that lower stress.

But they say more studies examining that relationship are needed.
