Junk food tax in Hungary

People in Hungary will soon be paying more to satisfy their sweet tooth.

The Hungarian parliament has passed a draft law that will tax unhealthy foods at a higher rate.

High-sugar, high-sodium foods, and energy drinks loaded with caffeine and sugar are some of the products facing higher taxes.

Some experts are warning the new tax could damage the hungarian economy more than it might help public health.

They fear factory closures and layoffs will result.
