While American markets are taking the day off for Independence Day, traders will be focused this week on the June jobs reports from both Canada and the U.S. that come out on Friday.

Data showing job creation in both countries is expected to be weak, now that economic growth forecasts have been revised downward.

Although there has been modest job creation in Canada, the U.S. unemployment rate is still stuck in the nine per cent range.

Expectations for Canadian job creation range from 5- to 15-thousand in June.
