Statistics Canada says inflation is moderating in Canada, falling three-tenths of a point to 2.9% in October.

That’s the first time the annual inflation rate has been within the Bank of Canada’s 1.3% comfort zone since July, and compares with 3.2% in September.

As usual, gasoline and food led the rise in prices.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile items like gasoline, came in a little higher than expected, at 2.1%.
