HAPPENING NOW:

Heat and heart problems

Another population at risk in this heat — people with heart problems.

Cardiologists at the Cleveland Clinic say when the body sweats to get rid of excess heat and cool the skin, the heart is pumping harder to move blood through the body. This could lead to a spike in heart rate and possible complications for those with heart issues, like high blood pressure or abnormal rhythm.

Experts say stick to air conditioned comfort and stay hydrated.
