A heat alert issued by Niagara region has now been lifted.

The heat and humidity had been building over the long weekend. From Saturday morning to Tuesday evening, Niagara paramedics responded to 636 calls — many were heat related. That was a 13-per cent increase over the previous weekend. And even though the conditions are more comfortable — Niagara EMS is still telling people to protect themselves in this hot weather.

Mayram Traub is with Niagara EMS: “Niagara EMS encourages people — even though there is no longer a heat advisory — to still take the proper precautions in weather like this. Extra hydration, take extra breaks, sunscreen, hats and stay cool.”

Temperatures are expected to rise again this weekend.
