HAPPENING NOW:

Hand sanitizer linked to deaths

Health Canada says two deaths in Ontario have been linked to a popular brand of hand sanitizer.

The agency says two people died after ingesting Bodico Hand Sanitizer that contained methanol, which is a highly toxic alcohol that can cause blindness or death if ingested, and it wasn’t listed on the bottle. Ethyl alcohol was on the label, instead.

Health Canada says it’s working with the manufacturer to test additional samples and to re-call the affected products.
