Hamilton’s mayor discusses new ‘strong mayor’ powers

The city of Hamilton will be granted new ‘strong mayor’ powers.

The powers allow mayors to veto bylaws that conflict with provincial priorities. It also gives the mayor the power to hire and dismiss senior managers and gives them stewardship over city budgets.

Hamilton’s mayor Andrea Horwath joined us this morning to discuss the new powers.
