Hamilton mayor Fred Eisenberger joined us with an update on reopenings in the city.

There are lots of reopenings happening today at city-run recreation centres.

“Lots of seniors will be happy, kids will be happy,” said Eisenberger. “Starting today, the drop in aquatic programs are open, the gym programs are open, the seniors facilities are open-”

Eisenberger says the Water Fit programming will start Feb. 21 and golf operations have resumed for those looking to brave the cold. Seniors centres are also opening.

“I know many seniors have been anxious to get out and socialize, be together and participate in some of those great programs,” said Eisenberger.

He also mentioned that the Dundurn Castle Museum opens today.

“Other museums will unfortunately be closed and that’s largely because we need all that staff to continue on with the vaccination program, which I’ll remind people is still the path for us to take in terms of pushing back against this virus,” said Eisenberger.

The Gage Park greenhouse, which was rebuilt a few years ago, reopened on Feb. 4 with capacity limits.
