G-E dishwasher recall

General Electric is recalling more than a million dishwashers in Canada and the U.S. because heating elements can fail and cause fires.

The recall includes about 1.3 million GE, GE Adora, GE Eterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint dishwashers.

Over 94,000 units were sold in Canada.

They were sold between March 2006 and August 2009 in a variety of colours and finishes.

GE says it’s received 15 reports of heating element failures, three of which caused extensive property damage.

No injuries have been reported.

If you have one of the affected products, disconnect the electric supply, and call the company at 1-888-943-5188 for a free repair.
