HAPPENING NOW:
From Nissan to Toyota: 4 affordable electric vehicles this year

As more transportation companies aim to produce vehicles that are environmentally-friendly, they are also attempting to make them more financially accessible.
Automotive journalist Petrina Gentile joined Bob Cowan on Morning Live to show four affordable electric vehicles that will be for sale this year.
Nissan Ariya
Gentile said Nissan made electric vehicles mainstream in 2010 with the world’s first mass-produced all-electric vehicle, the Leaf.
The Japanese automaker is now releasing their second all-electric vehicle, the Ariya.
Reservations are currently open for the 2023 Nissan Ariya. You can reserve your ride though this fall.
Toyota bZ4X
Toyota is all over the map when it comes to green technology from fuel cell vehicles to hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
The company is now creating their first all-electric vehicle, which is a replacement for the RAV4.
The Toyota bZ4X is also built on the same platform of the Subaru Solterra electric vehicle, which comes out this spring.
Chevrolet Equinox
General Motors just announced the Equinox is going electric.
The electric Chevrolet Equinox is one of 30 electric vehicles the automaker is aiming to produce by 2025.
“It’ll have GM’s new ultium battery pack and the price is expected to be around $35,000, which would make it one of the most affordable electric vehicles when it comes to Canada in the fall of 2023,” Gentile said.
Fisker Ocean
A California-based startup is coming to Canada in 2023 with the Ocean SUV in front wheel drive and all wheel drive and between 400 and 560 km of range.
Gentile said it will be outsourced to Magna-Steyr, a subsidiary of Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International. This means the Ocean SUV will be built in Austria and sold in Canada in mid-2023.
Prices are expected to start at less than $45,000 to qualify for subsidies.
