Frizzy hair and humid weather go hand in hand and today’s rain unleashed perhaps the worst hair day so far this summer. We went hunting for the reason behind it and the best way to battle frizz.

All that moisture has to go somewhere and unfortunately, your hair may be the catch basin. The outside of a strand of hair is covered in scales. Usually they lay flat but in dry or damaged hair, those scales stick out from the shaft. Heat and humidity make it even worse.

“It causes them to expand and when they expand, they stand straight up so therefore, the hair strand is now bigger, making the overall appearance of your hair that much bigger.”

Because curly is dryer, wavy mavens are constantly fighting frizz. It’s counter-intuitive, but your best weapon is the same thing that triggers a bad hair day, fight moisture with moisture.
