Flu can be fatal to children
Flu season is upon us and a new report from the Centers for Disease Control highlights what many parents aren’t aware of; the flu can be fatal to children, even if they are healthy.
Researchers found most of the 830 children who died from flu-related causes between 2004 and 2012 in the U.S. had not received the flu vaccine. And although the perception is that only sick children are at risk of dying from the flu, 43% of these deaths happened to kids who were healthy with no high-risk medical conditions. The CDC recommends all children six months or older get a flu shot every year.
