One of the hottest gifts this holiday season could be fitness trackers. They’re supposed to help us increase our activity level by keeping track of movement. We try to find out if they really do the job?

They’re kind of like pedometers on steroids. They connect to a smartphone using Bluetooth to track your steps and other movements, then calculate how many calories you’re burning. They give you the numbers, but it’s up to you to do the work.

Seeing your success in front of you is a good motivator. So is seeing your failure.
