Employee burnout in hospitals

There is a possible link between nurse burnout and hospital related infections.

Researchers surveyed nurses on their workload and emotional status, and looked at the number of urinary tract and surgical site infections.

For each additional patient assigned to a nurse, there was one additional urinary tract infection for every thousand patients.

They also found having a high amount of nurses reporting burnout resulted in more infections.
