People who felt emotionally neglected as children could be at an increased risk of suffering a stroke.

The study questioned over 1,000 adults about the details of their childhood and asked if they felt unloved or afraid of their parents.

The risk of stroke was almost three times higher in people who reported a high level of childhood emotional neglect, compared to those who reported low levels of neglect.
