Doctor shortage in Canada
A new survey of family doctors shows they are having a hard time keeping up with caseloads.
Aging baby boomers and more chronic illnesses are at the centre of the problem.
It’s the second national report in the space of a week warning that chronic illness is pushing Canada’s health care system to the brink.
The latest survey was conducted by the College of Family Physicians and other doctor’s groups.
It shows caseloads are taking up more time, and patients have longer waits, even for “urgent care.”
Non-urgent cases are waiting as long as twelve weeks to see a specialist.
