Dental plaque and cancer link

Having an unhealthy mouth could increase your risk for cancer.

Researchers followed 1,400 people for more than 20 years.

Those with the most dental plaque were more likely to die early from cancer, even when other risk factors for the disease were taken into account.

Researchers say they can’t determine that plaque caused an early cancer death, but it may be a contributing factor.

They’re planning more studies.
